To celebrate School Library Week, grades 5 and 6 students are invited to turn a pumpkin into a favorite book character! Entries may be dropped off at the library with their entry forms from Tuesday, October 15 through Monday, October 21. Please see Mrs. Full to get an entry form. The contest will be over by Thursday, October 24. Pumpkins must be taken home be the end of the day on Wednesday, October 30 or they will be thrown out.
Contest Rules:
- You may use pumpkins or gourds or both to create your project. You can use artificial pumpkins (available at craft stores) or real ones.
- There can be absolutely no carved entries. Pumpkins/gourds that have carved, poked, or punctured skin will be disqualified.
- To decorate you can use paper, glue, paint, markers, pipe cleaners, fabric, or other craft items on the pumpkin. BE CREATIVE!
- Projects must represent a book character from a book/graphic novel. On the entry form you must write the title and author of the book, and bring the book or a picture of the book cover to display with your pumpkin.
This is a home project and entries should be done mostly by the students, but parents or other family members may help.
Do not write your name anywhere on the project. When you drop off your pumpkin and entry sheet to Mrs. Full, your pumpkin will be assigned a number. Students and staff will vote for their favorite pumpkin.
All projects should be picked up by October 30th. Those that remain past this date will be thrown away.
